Welcome Prospective Students!

The Columbia University Medical Center has historically been an outstanding advocate for diversity and minority education in the health professions. Prospective students are encouraged to get in touch with us to learn more about the BALSO family and the support you can expect from us as a student here at the CUMC.

You may also wish to contact the Office of Diversity for more information.

Schedule

Early move in on August 16th:
  • 4:00 - 4:45: Meet and Greet/ Q&A (Bard 11th Floor Lounge)
  • 5:00 - 7:00: Dallas BBQ
  • No bowling.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. On move in day, will we be able to pick up our keys at the entrance of Bard Hall?
    - Yes, most likely in the housing office.
  2. Are there designated parking areas or will we be able to park in front of Bard?
    - There are not designated areas but on the day of move in many people park their moving trucks and cars in front of Bard to unload without too much of an issue.
  3. What should you wear on the day of the white coat ceremony?
    - The white coat is an important symbol in the medical community, therefore appropriate attire is important. For men, that typically means a button down shirt with a tie and nice shoes. For women, business casual attire is appropriate. Keep in mind that you will be putting on your white coat so you won't need a suit jacket and won't want to wear anything too bulky.
